Brickstone in Philadelphia

In Philadelphia, the name Brickstone is synonymous with large-scale historic rehabilitation and adaptive reuse projects. Brickstone won national acclaim and two National Park Service Historic Preservation Awards for its conversion of the 1,900,000 square foot Wanamaker Department Store into a fully leased mixed-use office/retail/parking facility, and for a similar conversion of the 880,000 square foot Lit Brothers Department Store into a mixed-use office/retail facility. Both projects have contributed significantly to Center City Philadelphia's recent resurgence.

Brickstone applied its adaptive reuse expertise to a new strategic move into the hospitality industry when it redeveloped a 400,000 square foot historic office building in Center City Philadelphia into a 500-room Courtyard Hotel by Marriott. Five other select service hotels have been developed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
